Work out the size
Standard single garage is 3m x 6m. Standard double garage is 6m x 6m. The standard backyard shed is approximately 2.4m high to the gutters, with a 1.9m high roller door. If you need higher clearance for a 4WD or a caravan, add 600m to the maximum hight needed for you gutter height.
Consult your council
There may be some height limits or easements on your property, which will impact the size of the shed you want. From there, you can get some quotes and designs knowing what you can get through council. There is nothing worse than a project getting held up in the council planning stage and this can take months.
Engineering
Once you have found the right company to supply your shed or patio, then its time for engineering. The lead time can vary depending on the work load. We use South Australian based Upright Engineering who does the engineering for the majority of the Australian shed industry. During peak time, engineering can take up to 4 weeks to be processed. This is when you will receive your engineers drawings.
Building license
Time to submit to council for the building license. I
t can take a little as a week for a building license for a simple garage or many months for a major project. We use specialists to process our council applications. That is all they do, so they know all the tricks and answers to all the questions as well as having a drafting and surveying service if needed.
Ordering and manufacturing
Once you have received the building license, we can order your shed. This lead time is normally around 4 weeks until delivery. During peak times this can move out a week or two. Our installers will be kept up to date of when the shed will arrive on site and be ready to lay down the concrete as soon as the building license is processed. Then it will be ready for the shed to be built soon after it is delivered.
Installation
Our installers are fully insured and licensed professionals with years experience. We don't farm work out to a bunch of different people and let you take your chances. Our team are very fast at getting the shed up so you can start using it asap. Or
you can purchase a fully engineered kit from us and put it up yourself. The frame is cut and drilled so its as easy as bolting it together. The shed comes with construction drawings that show where all components fit as well as a detailed installation manual
