Our Story

We asked local Noongar artist Lyall Winmar to create our business logo in his own image with minimal brief from us. This is his story.

“My name is Lyall Winmar,

I am a Wadjuk Ballardong man.

I have been painting for a number of years in both traditional and contemporary arts. I was asked by Waypoint Outdoor to create a business logo that represented them. This is my Dreaming of Djilba Bilya Bindjareb Boodjar (Peel Estuary on Bindjareb country).

The Djilba Bilya is a source of food and water for Noongar people. Anyone who has a connection to the rivers in the south west should know this and pay respect to its traditional custodians.

This painting shows the time when the land was untouched and beautiful, long before the bridge was built that runs over the river near Pinjarra Road on Forest Highway

The Waypoint Outdoor Mob have had a lifelong connection to all the waterways of the south west from the Swan River (Derbarl Yerrigan) where they grew up fishing the banks of the river in Belmont and as far as Augusta and Albany. This is all Noongar nation and I'm proud to share my culture and stories with them.

Always was, always will be. Noongar Boodja”
