What to expect
with Waypoint Outdoor

Some people know exactly what size and style of shed they want. Others need our friendly help and guidance every step of the way. No matter where you are on your new shed journey, here’s a general guide; an overview of what to expect.

Have you considered size and specification?

If you do know your preferred shed size, it can streamline our response. However, if you don’t know yet, that’s absolutely fine too. We’re here to help. Here’s some tips:

A standard single garage is 3m x 6m

A standard double garage is 6m x 6m.

A standard backyard shed is approximately 2.4m high to the gutters, with a 1.9m high roller door.

There’s a wide range of sheds featured on the pages of this website. Why not take a photo of the exact shed you like and upload it into the quote form?

01

Have you pre-consulted
your local council?

It can be a smart, time saving move to contact your council as early as possible and let them know what size shed you are planning.  There might be height limits or easements on your property, which will impact the size of the shed they will approve.

02

We provide the
Site-Specific Engineering

Once you’ve filled out our online quote form, and we’ve clarified a design spec that’s compliant with your local Council, it’s time for us to produce your Site-specific Engineering drawings. Waypoint Outdoor ensures your shed or garage is professionally designed to suit the exact conditions of your property, providing strength, safety, and compliance. We assess a range of key factors, including:

Wind Region

Surrounding Terrain

Topography

By analysing these elements alongside your building’s intended use, we determine the required wind speed rating to ensure your structure is safe, durable, and built to last.

03

Now it's time for the Building License

When it’s time to submit your building license application, the approval timeline can vary—from as little as a week, to several weeks for larger projects. To streamline the process for you, we work with specialists who handle council applications daily. Their expertise ensures fewer delays, and seamless compliance. If needed, they also provide professional drafting and surveying services.

04

Ordering and
manufacturing made easy

Once your building license is approved, we’ll place your shed order. Manufacturing typically takes around 4 weeks, though during peak times this may extend by a week or two. Our team keeps installers informed throughout the process, ensuring concrete work is scheduled as soon as approvals are in place. This way, once your shed arrives, construction can begin without delay. We work hard to ensure a smooth process from approval to installation—so you can start using your shed sooner!
